Prometheus • Titan • Cultural hero • Trickster • Created man from clay • Stole fire from the Gods and gave it to the mortals • Sentenced to eternal punishment for giving them fire • He was bound to a rock, and each day an eagle, the symbol of Zeus, would eat his liver. It would grow back the next day to keep his punishment going forever.

  3. Prometheus • In some stories he was freed by Hercules • Established animal sacrifice

  4. Hermes • 2nd youngest god • Zeus’ son • God of transitions and boundaries • Messenger of the Gods • He was protector and patron of travelers, herdsmen, thieves, orators, sports and trade. • Some myths he is portrayed as a trickster

  5. Hermes • Offspring: Pan, Priapus, Autolycus • Also 39 other children with 42+ different lovers
