  2. AUTHORISATIONS OF P.P.P. FOR MINORCROPS TROPICAL VEGETABLES 1 / WHAT IS IT MINOR a minor diet < 7.5 g/ in the diet ha cultivation < 10.000 ha and production :< 200.000 tons more minor diet < 1.5 g cultivation 600 ha 2 / TECHNIC NOTICE which resumes the request Minor uses concerned Description of G.A.P. Extrapolation for residues or studies Biological assimilation for efficacy Results of efficacy and/or selectivity results if relevant 3 / LABEL

  3. AUTHORISATIONS OF P.P.P. FOR MINORCROPS TROPICAL VEGETABLES 1 / WHAT IS IT MAJOR? Question on the diet inside Europe olives are major for the south absence in the north peaches are major in the south are there to be taken in consideration in the north ? Egg plants are minor netherless the italian people is eating more than 7,5 g in the diet outside of europe peanuts, tropical fruits, coffee, cocoa beans The diet change fruits and vegetables are growing like example some countries in the north are eating more than 200g of peppers ( portion acute risk) some baby also are drinking a lot of juice some diet are necessary in Europe for the north and for the south for adults, toddlers and baby

  4. AUTHORISATIONS OF P.P.P. FOR MINOR USES TROPICAL FRUIT 4 STAGES 1/ REQUEST By companies or by the groupement of producers For extension of autorisation only Argumentation on minor character of uses 2 / TOXICOLOGY,RESIDUES AND ECOTOXICOLOGY 3 / EFFICACY AND SELECTIVITY 4 / REGISTRATION

  5. AUTHORISATIONS OF P.P.P. 14. AUTHORISATIONS OF P.P.P. FOR MINOR USES FRENCH GUIDELINES RESIDUES AND ECOTOXICOLOGY new extrapolations major - minor crops (residues) Spices treatment after harvest see EU requirements but residues on leaves or flowers are critical. See also for herbs treatment after harvest methyl bromide hydrogen phosphorous OTHERS? …….

  15. AUTHORISATIONS OF P.P.P. FOR MINOR USES FRENCH GUIDELINES RESIDUES AND ECOTOXICOLOGY new extrapolations major - minor crops (residues) Case of feverole ( beans) extrapolation from pulses sowing occurs at the same date as peas. The growing is similar and the harvesting 3 or 4 weeks later. Flowering in may as for peas fungi pythium, fusarium, mildew, botrytis, uromyces fabae insects sitone, aphids, pea bettle, extrapolation from proteaginous peas and dry peas …….

  16. AUTHORISATIONS OF P.P.P. FOR MINOR USES FRENCH GUIDELINES RESIDUES AND ECOTOXICOLOGY new extrapolations major - minor crops (residues) Case of lupin sowing occurs from end of january still march The harvesting in August. Flowering in may as for peas fungi anthracnose, botrytis, uromyces fabae insects fly, tipula, sitone, aphids, bug extrapolation from XXXX for aerial part and from XXXX for fly…….

  17. AUTHORISATIONS OF P.P.P. FOR MINOR USES FRENCH PROCEDURE EFFICACY • BIOLOGICAL ASSIMILATION • Minor use yet listed on the document “ MINOR USE ” OR • COMPARABILITY STUDY • (Bibliography, stranger trials in same use and geographic area…) AND / OR • NEW FIELD TRIALS

  18. AUTHORISATIONS OF P.P.P. FOR MINOR USES FRENCH PROCEDURE SELECTIVITY Generally no problem for insecticides, and fungicides Trials to do with herbicides on each plant

  19. EXAMPLE 1 Request for minor use Gherkin / Downy mildew RESIDUES : complete data base on cucumber (8 trials) : no residue trial to do on courgette EFFICACY : demonstrate for cucumber / Pseudoperonospora cubensis no efficacy trial to do SELECTIVITY : some tests on Gherkin recommanded

  20. EXAMPLE 2 Request for minor use Raddish / Downy mildiew EFFICACY No efficacy trial to do Selectivity : some tests on raddish recommanded Biological assimilation possible with Cabbage / Downy mildew

  21. CONCLUSIONS MANY REQUESTS : aromatic plants tropical plants ornemental plants vegetables… MANY CASES WICH NEED EXAMINATION BY EXPERTS necessity to known the crop ( planting, growing, harvesting) GAP is the main requirement and some difficulties appear with minor crops and crops coming outside of EU POSSIBILITIES TO WORK WITH MUTUAL RECOGNITION BETWEEN MEMBER STATES
