  2. Purpose • Our group is here to raise awareness on the pressing issue of underinflated tires in our world today

  3. Purpose • By spreading information on this issue and providing free tire inflation events we intend to have a measurable impact in reducing Ventura’s CO2 emissions

  4. Background • CO2 is a major greenhouse gas on earth. It can clearly be linked to global climate change. The increase in atmospheric CO2 in recent years in due largely to the burning of fossil fuels.(Oil, Natural Gas, Coal, BioFuels) • CO2 forms a blanket over the earth, trapping the suns rays after they bounce off the surface

  5. Background • Gas powered cars emit CO2 as a part of the combustion process

  6. So what? • The amount of CO2 coming out of the tailpipe is directly related to the fuel economy of the car being driven • Underinflated tires cause vehicles to function with a lower MPG than if the tires were properly inflated

  7. What you can do • By inflating your tires to the proper psi you can maximize mpg • By maximizing your cars mpg, you minimize CO2 emissions • Just inflating tires alone increases tire pressure by 1% when this is accompanied with a few extra steps can decrease co2 emissions by 15 %

  8. To find out what the optimum tire pressure is for your vehicle, look in the drivers side door jam, glove box, or the owners manual

  9. FREE TIRE INFLATING EVENT • We will be inflating students tires at lunch and after school this Thursday and Friday, June 5 and June 6 • Participants get candy or donuts • You may win a tshirt for participating
