  4. Pilot Phase Spring 2005 When: • Difference in class periods Monday-Wednesday-Friday versus Tuesday-Thursday • Count traffic different days & times • Mondays 2:30-3:30 & Thursdays 3-4

  5. Pilot Outcomes • 60 out of 95 visitors identified • 20 out of 60 faculty • Awareness of what the new librarian will do for her departments • Groundwork for building relationships with faculty • Food brings the curious • Continue into next academic year

  8. Current Librarian in the Lobby • CIT 3rd floor atrium (new Fall 08 comp sci) – Mondays 1-3 • MacMillan outside 117 (started Fall 05 chem plus geo & envs) – Wednesdays 10-12 and Thursdays 2-4 • Barus & Holley (started April 05 eng & physics) – Wednesdays 2-4 and Thursdays 10-12

Final Thoughts • Faculty relationships • Direct service • Referrals to students • Invitations to courses • Information central – departments & academic administration • Graduates – use when cannot find a resource • Undergraduates – information research assignment rare before 6th semester if at all • Handouts are available before & after until tables taken down • Barker at a carnival midway • High traffic location and times • Wireless computer for own tasks
