Public Speaking Why should I listen to you? Make me want to! p. 47 • Be credible. You must be believable and competent (knowledgeable). Think about celebrities endorsing products. Why do companies use them? Know your stuff!!!! 2. Capture People’s Hearts and Minds. Convey your ideas so well that the audience believes you. Win their hearts!
Effective Communicator • The most skilled communicators usually win. They get promotions, win elections, get the sale, receive rewards and recognition…They are usually the leaders in a community and make a difference in people’s lives. IQ or EQ? But who is going to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves? Hopefully, YOU will.
Effective Communicator What if you had an idea or belief that we desperately needed to hear, but you didn’t know how to say it? It might go unsaid. Dr. King spoke for those who could not speak effectively for themselves. Strong leaders speak for those who can’t speak for themselves AND they speak for what is right. (p. 47) STOP HERE.
