The Every Child Matters agenda is focused on achieving five outcomes that matter most to children Every Child Matters: Change for Children sets out an agenda for reform across children's services, allowing providers to work more effectively both together and with parents and carers
WHAT IS AN EXTENDED SCHOOL? An extended school is one that meets the needs of both its pupils and the wider community through good use of all the resources available, both in house and with local partnerships.
What does an Extended School look like?
To attain these outcomes all schools will offer core extended services by 2010 – 50% schools by 2008 Extended schools are not expected to work alone or deliver services in isolation, but work together with the Local Authority and other agencies to deliver this agenda together Quality childcare A varied menu of activities Core offer All year round 8am-6pm on site or through local providers including study support Parenting support Swift and easy referral including family learning to specialised support services including adult learning

WHAT IS BSF? • BSF – Building Schools for the Future is a programme from the Government which is about raising educational standards in schools. • Luton has been given £233 million pounds to rebuild, modernise and re-shape all of our High Schools. • New exciting schools means new exciting learning = better achievement.

ACTIVITY TIME ! Love – Hate - Change Using the Post-it notes on your table write down one thing you LOVE and one thing you HATE about your school and one thing you would CHANGE about your school if you were able to. Put your Post-its up on the flip chart at your table under each heading. Finally when you have all put up your Post-its on the flip decide as a GROUP which FIVE changes are the most important to you all. Good Luck !

ACTIVITY TIME AGAIN ! How would you spend money – Make a Change …… Using your CHANGES from Activity One – look at the price list on your table. You have £10 million pounds to make those changes and transform your school for the future ! Each table must put together a proposal and present back to our panel – with your reasons for your changes. You can use the flip paper or the OHP Go for it !!
