Advisement for VSU Athletic Training Program Summer/Fall 2009
Preparation • Use your advising checklist to look at the courses that are remaining for you to take. • You should have a copy of your checklist from previous advising sessions or you can find it at http://www.valdosta.edu/coe/kspe/athletictraining/Academicprograminfo.shtml • Use the undergraduate catalog to see the core requirements and core options. http://www.valdosta.edu/catalog/0809/ugrad/index.shtml
Common Registration Problems for Summer/Fall Semester • KSPE 2050 and 2151 have to be registered for at the same time and on the SAME page in banner; they are co-requisites. • If you get a pre-requisite error while registering for a class. (1) have you completedthe pre-requisite class. If yes, see the Registrar. If no, then you can not take the class.
Transfer students • If you transferred from out of state AND you transferred credit for POLS 1101 and/or HIST 2111 or 2112 then you are missing the required Georgia history and/or Georgia Constitution. You can either retake the courses or take an exemption test in the Testing Office in Powell Hall.
Taking Transient Courses (while still enrolled at VSU you take a course(s) at another university. • Check the university (that you plan to transiently enroll in) to see the courses that they offer. • Check the course description NOT the course name to be sure it covers the same material as the class that you would like to receive credit for at VSU. • Go to the Registrar’s office and ask for a Transient form • Complete your portion of the form and then take it to your advisor for signing, and then back to the Registrar. • Once you complete the class, the university where you took the course has to send confirmation that you completed the class to VSU. You need to check your transcript the following semester to make sure it is showing. • The VSU ATEP will not accept upper level AT courses.
