Steps to use A+ at OTC • Apply for admission to OTC • Select a program of study • Complete the FAFSA & list OTC as a school to receive info. www.fafsa.gov • Summer 2020 (FAFSA 2019-20) • Fall 2020/Spring 2021/Summer 2021(FAFSA 2021-22) • Enroll as a full-time student - Full-time: • Fall & Spring 12 credit hours • Summer 6 credit hours 5. Step 4STAR(Student Advising & Registration) • First time students may attend a STAR & register for their first semester of classes without official high school transcript on file. • Register full-time: • Fall & Spring 12 credit hours • Summer 6 credit hours
Complete the RegistrationProcess • A student’s registration is not complete until the student signs up for My Payment Plan the same day the student enrolls in classes. • If they do not sign up for My Payment Planthe same day they register, they will be dis-enrolled from those classes at midnight. • Through July 15, the financial aid office will offer an A+ scholarship for graduating seniors without the official transcript on file. • After July 15, the official A+ transcript must be on file for financial aid disbursement.

Tuition Q: How do A+ & Pell work together? Federal Pell grant must pay first • - Pell Grant The A+ program scholarship covers the unpaid balance of your tuition and general fees after all available, non-loan federal financial assistance, such as the federal Pell grant, has been applied to your account. This may result in a zero award if your Pell grant is sufficient to cover all tuition and general fee charges. • = A+ Award

Q: Will A+ pay for online classes? Yes • Just not the misc. fees like the online course fee of $65 per course
Q: Can Iattend less than full-time?A: Yes…if you meet one of the following exceptions • You have a documented disability and an ADA letter from Disability Support Services on file with the Financial Aid Office • Requires minimum of 6 credit hours (fall/spring) • Requires minimum of 3 credit hours (if enrolled during summer) • You plan to graduate at the end of the semester • You are enrolled in all of the available hours applicable to your program of study for the given term. • You have been accepted in an Allied Health program and the hours required for a given term are limited to less than full-time enrollment. • Students who meet one of the exceptions above can submit anException Request Formavailable on the A+ landing page www.otc.edu/financialaid/aplus
Q: How long do I have to use my A+? A student has up to 48 months after the date of high school graduation to either: • Graduate with a two year degree…or… • Complete 105% of required hours for the student’s program of study. • The 105% calculation includes: • All hours completed at any institution, including remedial coursework • The 105% calculation does not include: • Credit hours earned before high school graduation
Q: How do I maintain my A+ eligibility? • Complete a new FAFSA each academic year you wish to use benefits • Complete a minimum of 12 credit hours in fall/spring (or 6 hours in summer) • Maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.50+ • Exception to this rule: • new student beginning in the fall term must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 by the end of first semester then a 2.50 every semester thereafter • Eligibility is evaluated every semester

Q: If it is my first summer after high school graduation, can I use A+ for the summer semester?A: Yes Yes, you can use A+ program benefits at a community college your first summer after high school graduation, even if you plan to transfer to a four-year college or university in the fall. Q: If I am attending another college, can I come back and use A+ for the summer at OTC?A:No, visiting students are not eligible Here is why… • Visiting students to OTC or students enrolled at 4-year colleges and universities during the prior fall or spring semesters of the current school year are not eligible to use A+ funding during the summer semester. • This is due to the fact a student must be degree seeking at the institution where A+ is utilized.
