  2. Adjectives Adjectives are words that describe or modify another person or thing in the sentence. Degrees of Adjectives They can express degrees of modification: Gladys is a richwoman,but Josie is richer than Gladys, and Sadie is the richest woman in town.

  3. The degrees of comparison are known as the positive Gladys is a richwoman,but the comparative frequently adds the suffixes -er although we need -ier when a two-syllable adjective ends in “y” Happy-happier, otherwise we use more when an adjective has more than one syllable. Josie is richerthan Gladys the superlatives frequently adds the suffixes -est although we need -iest when a two-syllable adjective ends in “y” Happy-happiest, otherwise we use most when an adjective has more than one syllable. Sadie is the richest woman in town.
