  1. Is This The Beginning of The End?

  2. The Last Days Started Long Ago • Acts 2:17-18 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: • The Day of Pentecost ushered in the beginning of the last days.

  3. Israel Goes Home • In 1948, Israel went back to their home land. • They were summoned by the new government from the four corners of the earth. • Their return started the end times.

  4. The End Times Began With Israel • Mark 13:26-30 then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven. Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near: So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done.

  5. The Half Hour of Silence • Between the end of the Vietnam war and the beginning of the war with Iraq, there was the silence of peace in the world. • Revelation 8:1-5 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets. And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand. And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.

  6. The Half Hour of Silence • This half hour of silence is a time in history is the lull or “calm” before the storm. • Since then, there has been nothing but violence. • We are at a time during the opening of the Seventh seal.

  7. September 11th 2001 • The attacks on September 11th in New York, Washington, and rural Pennsylvania which resulted in the deaths of over 6000 human beings - primarily janitors, secretaries, fire fighters, office workers, and police - were a devastating and horrible tragedy. Victims of the attacks came from at least 39 different countries, the vast majority of them citizens of the United States.

  8. Was This Predicted? • Isaiah 30:25-26 And there shall be upon every high mountain, and upon every high hill, rivers and streams of waters in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall. Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound.

  9. This prophecy alone would not substantiate a case for the end of the world. • It is conjunction with other evidence previously described and to be discussed that make it a startling scripture. • One can envision towers collapsing and rivers of water falling to put the fire out. • Then we can see God’s healing effect through prayer.

  10. National Day of Prayer

  11. What Did God Want To Accomplish? Habakkuk 1:5 "Look at the nations and watch-- and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told. • If someone told you that there would be an outpouring of national unity – would you believe it? • If someone told you that the president would declare a national day of prayer – would you believe it? • If some told you that police and firemen would once again looked upon as heroes – would you believe it? • That’s what God thought!

  12. Billy Graham Preaches The Gospel To The World • On September 14, 2001, the whole world tuned in as the President of the United States made known his intentions of what he would do in response. • He invited religious leaders to pray and preach the gospel - among them Billy Graham preached Christ to billions of people around the world. • The technology of satellites, computers, television, and the like, made it possible for the first time in history to make transmission possible for everyone to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ.

  13. The Preaching of The Gospel • Mark 13:10 And the gospel must first be published among all nations. • Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. • Now that that this has been fulfilled – God will not delay his coming Son. • Prepare for his coming!

  14. Powell’s Peace Initiative Fails • Colin Powell fails in bringing peace to Middle East. • Arafat continues to send terrorists. • Israel responds with tanks and soldiers.

  15. Israel Goes To War • April 12 —  An explosion rocked downtown Jerusalem on Friday, killing several people and wounding at least 40, police and medics said, putting an already difficult peace mission undertaken by U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell in danger of collapse. The blast, blamed on a suicide bomber, destroyed a bus stop on one of the city’s main thoroughfares as crowds were shopping ahead of the Sabbath at sundown.

  16. The New Face of Suicide Bombers • Women and children are now killing women and children. • 18-year-old Palestinian girl who blew herself up at the entrance to a Jerusalem supermarket, the BBC broadcast a small segment of the videotape she had recorded beforehand.

  17. Wars and Rumors of Wars • Matthew 24:3-8 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.

  18. Rumors of Wars • Not only are we seeing Israel against Palestine and “rumors” of impending escalation of war from Arab countries, we also see America right in the middle of it. • But then this too is further evidence of the impending judgment that is coming. • Like natural signs that sound the coming of seasons, so too are these signs as well evidence of the end-times.

  19. Television and Homosexuality • He is an example of what is on TV: • Felicity (teen angst drama) WB 1998-present • Javier Clemente Quintata (Ian Gomez) coffee house manager • Javier manages the coffee house where lead character Felicity and one of her romantic interests work. Javier and his boyfriend were married in the 1999/2000 season finale.

  21. Men Lovers of Themselves • II Timothy 3:1-5 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. II Peter 3:2-3 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

Another Sign of The End • This immorality that is so prevalent in society is also a sign of the end-times. • Yet even Christians are avid watchers of these programs. • This conduct of immoral behavior has become so common-place that is easily accepted as normal behavior. • What are you watching on television? • What are your kids watching?

  23. False Prophets • In 1987, the Lord revealed His sovereign power by exposing ministries which were involved in hidden sin. The Bakker and Swaggart ordeal only scratched the surface of a Church rife with immorality and greed. One denomination reported that year that it had more cases of church discipline involving ministers in sexual immorality than ever before. It became clear that the Lord was purging self-promotion, lust, and greed from the Church.

  24. False Prophets Will Turn People Away From God • Matthew 24:10-13 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

  25. False Prophets a Sing of the End • These two examples are just further evidence of what we see so often in churches today. • For every one of these people there are dozens more. • They are found in many other religions as well. • They are what turns people off to church life.

  26. Is World Peace Possible? James 4:1-4 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

  27. Is Peace Possible? • Not for long - in this life! • People have a natural tendency for war because of what is inside of them. • So don’t expect things to get any better in the middle east or anywhere else for that matter. • The bible has warned us of a new and better kingdom to come.

  28. Peace Is Another Sign • I Thessalonians 5:3-6 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

  29. Currently, there are efforts underway to bring peace to the middle east. • But though there may be a possibility of a short term peace, it will not last. • This will usher in the final chapter and the beginning of Armageddon.

  30. What Should We Do? • Mark 13:34-37 For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

  31. Watch and Wait • There is nothing we can do about the final outcome but to prepare for it and prepare our loved ones too. • Remember this final verse: • Psalms 46:10-11 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
