Arts Standards Creative Expression Aesthetic Perception Historical & Cultural Perspective Critical Analysis
Media Arts Defined Media arts courses focus on the art elements and principles of design as applied in various forms. Students learn to use a variety of technological media, techniques, and processes as a means of creative expression and communication. A study of the history of media arts, as well as its aesthetic, social, and cultural issues and roles are addressed. Students engage in critiques of their work, the works of other students, and works by professional media artists.
Media Arts Traditional Internet art, software art, and computer-mediated installations. Non-traditional conceptual art, installation art, performance art, two or three-dimensional animation, and video. Digital Media include, but are not limited to, film, movies, video, and photography.
Fine Arts Survey • All four arts • Emphasis on Aesthetic Perception and Historical and Cultural Perspective • Not exclusively art history • Goals • Interest students in participating in an art form • Gain an appreciation for arts
Instructional Materials Should serve as a resource to educators and students, provide adequate and appropriate instruction, and correlate well with the Louisiana Arts benchmarks.
