  3. Student Council Update • District SGA Meeting at Crooms – November 30th • Homecoming Week – December 5th – 9th • Mix It Up Day • Halloween Dance – October 28th • Blood Drive – October 21st • BPA Regionals – December 2nd

  4. Curriculum Committee…accomplished • Junior Achievement supports –Crooms’ 4 year career plan • --10th grade program starts Oct. 2011 • Completed 5 week program • Teach In Day – November 15, 2011 • --49 speakers 174 presentations • --Thank you Devry University for sponsoring the luncheon.

Curriculum Committee…coming soon • Junior Achievement supports Crooms’ 4 year career plan • —9th grade program starts March 2012 • --11th grade Job Shadowing Program-schedule is set • --12th summer internship—in development • Senior Exit Interviews- 130 seniors • Interviews begin Nov. 28 – Dec. 2, 2011 • Tech Fest/Field Day/LanFest – March 2, 2012 • Need speakers and sponsors • We now have 2 keynote speakers

  6. New initiative – STEM education in action! (20 student members and growing!) Goal: Inspire students to pursue careers in STEM! Crooms Robotics Nov 11 2011 -VEX competiton – sponsored by Northrup Grumman – Judges award for “Most Dedicated to Competition” for ROOKIE TEAM! Immediate needs ! -$5000 for robot building materials and supplies (9-week build- time for FIRST Robotics competition begins January 12, 2012) - Mentors for engineering design, competition strategy, machining, entreprenureship. Next challenge  Jan, 2012 – FIRST Robotics competiton – sponsored by JCPenney (sponsoring entrance fee and basic robot kit)

Internship Development Identify 20-25 slots for the 2012 Summer Session March & April • Post Job Descriptions May • Begin the interviews June • Summer Internship Begins Requirements for employers offering positions: • Minimum of 150 hours for full credit • Preferred Paid Positions but Non Paid is now acceptable • $8-$10/hr Need support to identify Internship slots for 2012

  10. Scholarship Committee 2011-2012 Scholarship Application reviewed and updated by committee. Emailed scholarship out to all seniors, parents, and senior teachers. Crooms Scholarship Foundation Endowment Current Balance- 25,939.21 as of 9/23/2011 Scholarships awarded to seniors: 2004-2005--$2,000 2005-2006--$2,000 2006-2007--$2,500 2007-2008--$2,500 2008-2009--$4,000 2009-2010--$3,500 2010-2011--$4,500

Wilkinson - Vice-President, Chief Scientist and Chief Technology Officer, MYMIC LLC • Session Speakers – we have very few!!! • Funding commitments to date: • Sponsorship– $3750 to date • In Kind - $750 to date • Yard Barber is sponsoring lunch • We need • More session speakers • More sponsors – $11,250 to go • More people to help contact previous Tech Fest sponsors / speakers
