  2. SEO How do I get my page listed higher in search engine listings (ie Google etc.)? Applies to the pages of your web site Also to your Facebook business ‘About’ text
  3. Keywords You need to think about this question: What would people enter in the Google search box to get my web site listed as a search result?
  4. Keywords The words people would use to search for your business are your keywords You must ensure your keywords appear in your Facebook about text and regularly in your web site text. Also use keywords in your home page title (meta page title) If possible your webpage URL (the www name) should use your number 1 keyword.
  5. Updates You must update your page regularly for Google to rank it in search results Google assumes that if your page is static and does not get updated it is not likely to be relevant to searchers. Make sure your page has correct spelling and good grammar.
  6. In bound links Google treats in-bound links from other web sites to your site as an indicator of how relevant and useful your site is. You should do you best to encourage other sites to link to your site (perhaps in return for the same favour!) Do not be tempted to buy in-bound links. This is a waste of money and Google may blacklist your site
  7. Be patient Your search engine ranking will not improve over night! It takes time! Google will ignore new web sites initially for several months It takes up to 4 years for Google to fully trust a new site Google regularly improve and change their search algorithms Any article about SEO which is over about 6-12 months old is out of date
