The last supper Francis Méan 3 March 2013 Genesis 18: 1-5 Matthew 26: 26-29
Genesis 18: 1-5 • 1The Lord appeared to Abraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day. • 2 Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground. • 3 He said, ‘If I have found favour in your eyes, my lord,]do not pass your servant by.
Genesis 18: 1-5 • 4 Let a little water be brought, and then you may all wash your feet and rest under this tree. • 5 Let me get you something to eat, so you can be refreshed and then go on your way – now that you have come to your servant.’ • ‘Very well,’ they answered, ‘do as you say.’
Matthew 26: 26-29 • 26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, ‘Take and eat; this is my body.’ • 27 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you. • 28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. • 29 I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.’
