Why are we doing this again? • I-The student will demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills • IX-The student will approach the practice of pharmacy with awareness of his/her limits, strengths, weaknesses and personal vulnerabilities • XI-The students will be able to identify issues of public, professional and institutional concern and works for the common good to bring resolution • XII-The student will be proactively involved in community and professional efforts to promote good health for the public welfare
DUE DATE: April 1st • Advisor will review by April 15th • Must “meet standard” (page 12) • Otherwise… • Professional warning • GAP remediation required by May 15th to progress to next academic year
I: Communication • Upload at least one, preferably ALL, class projects relevant to communication growth • ALSO, complete and upload a communication reflection
IX: Personal and Professional Growth • Complete and upload personal assessment reflection • Awareness of personal strengths/weaknesses and willingness to improve upon them • See clear goals to improve personal and professional growth in future
XI: Advancement of Pharmacy and Health Care-Memberships • Must have been member in at least 1 professional organization • Complete and upload membership reflection form • Considerable awareness of a topic relevant to pharmacy practice • Long-term implications of topic on you and the practice of pharmacy
XII: Advancement of Pharmaccy and Health Care-Attendance • Must demonstrate attendance at 1 professional meeting per year at least • Complete and upload attendance reflection form • Demonstrates considerable involvement in at least 1 state or national pharmacy meeting • Demonstrates how involvement affects long-term learning and pharmacy practice
Examples of Meetings that Count • Expected ones: • National: ASHP, APhA, ACCP, AACP • State: SCSHP, SCPhA • Others: • APhA-ASP Mid-year Regional Meetings • Phi Lambda Sigma Leadership Conference • SCPhA 5th District Meetings • Target Leadership Workshop
XII: Health and Public Welfare-Pharmacy Service • Must document at least 5 hours of approved pharmacy-related community service • Complete and upload a community service reflection form • Demonstrates understanding of overall meaning of your service on growth as a professional
XII: Health and Public Welfare-Non-Pharmacy Service • Document at least 1 non-pharmacy related service activity • Complete and upload a community service reflection form • Demonstrates understanding of overall meaning of your service on growth as a professional
Examples of General Community Service • Free Medical Clinics • United Ministries • Habitat for Humanity • Up ‘til Dawn • PC-V • Special Olympics • Relay for Life • Operation Christmas Child • Children Programs: Thornwell, Reading Buddies, Girl Scouts, After School Program • Elder Programs: Presbyterian Village, Bailey Manor, National Healthcare
