  1. What is photosynthesis? Photosynthesis is part of biology subject. In online biology classes, students are taught about everything from flora and fauna to microorganisms. While studying plants and their physiology, the most important topic that comes up is the process of photosynthesis. Plants are the primary source of food on earth and the first step of the food chain. They carry out a process known as photosynthesis to make their food, that is glucose which is stored as starch.

  2. Site of photosynthesis It is not that this process occurs randomly anywhere on the plant. Leaves are the primary site for photosynthesis. In online tuition classes, students learn that leaves contain chloroplasts in which chlorophyll pigment is present. It traps sunlight, and in the presence of carbon dioxide and water, starch formation occurs. Even the green color of leaves comes from chlorophyll pigment.

  3. Importance of photosynthesis Sun is the ultimate source of energy for Earth, and to utilize that energy, the process of photosynthesis is necessary. Sun’s energy can be harnessed only by a few organisms. Another important process that occurs during photosynthesis is the conversion of carbon dioxide to oxygen. Every living organism needs oxygen to survive on this planet, and plants provide this most important source. As plants are the primary source of food, it can be said that they are also the source of carbon present as organic molecules in most living organisms.
