SETS Features Browsing Data for 2002 reveal that the rate of cesarean delivery rose to the highest level ever reported in the U.S. Find the method of delivery fields by browsing the SETS 2002 Natality data file.

SETS Features In working with NCHS data, careful attention should be paid to the documentation. For example, to match estimates reported by NCHS in SETS, one must exclude foreign born residents before tabulating natality data. Selecting Records Exclude foreign born residents, by choosing Records and Select from the menu. Per documentation, use the field STRESFIP, the operator != (not equal) and the code 00 (foreign born residents).
SETS Features Let’s create a recode for cesarean deliveries, based on the DELMETH5 field. To match figures published in the Final Report, we need to combine the primary and repeat cesarean deliveries for a total. Recoding Fields
