Network Folders • There are three types of folders on the server that you can access when logged on to the network : • Network Home • Campus • Hand In/Out • Staff have full control over all of the folders (can view, edit, add, delete files and folders) • Students can view files and can edit their own files in the Hand-In folder • Hand-In/Hand-Out folders do not count toward teachers storage allocation
Network Folders Student data • Students are allocated 1 GB of server space • Teachers are allocated 5 GB of server space Teacher data KB < MB < GB < TB
Campus Folder The CAMPUS folder is shared server space that can be accessed by any teacher on the instructional network

Taskbar There are fewer items on the taskbar, but you can customize this You can “pin” apps to your taskbar
Pin to Taskbar or Start Menu Right-click (two finger click) on any application and you will have the option to pin it to the task bar or start menu.
Documents Pictures & Music Different names and look; same function
Computer • This is where you will find your Hand-In and Hand-Out folders, your Network folder, the Campus folder, and any removable devises you have plugged in. To access any of these, just double click.
Control Panel • Click on Start Menu > Control Panel • Choose from one of 8 main menus

Adding A Printer in Windows 7 If the printer is on the network and driver is installed, you will be prompted to enter a “friendly printer name” If the printer is on the network and the driver is NOT installed, follow the remaining steps: Step 8: Select Device Type Generic Network Card Step 9: Choose the printer manufacturer and printer model from the list (select the PCL option)

Displays Command + P = projector displays
Displays F8 will not longer act as detect displays _______ Macs tend to detect displays automatically, but we suggest creating an easily accessible shortcut
Snap Use Snap to place Windows side by side to drag and drop. Drag a window either left or right until a “ghost” shadow appears. Drop to Snap into place. Repeat on the opposite side for another window.
Helpful Hint:Problem Steps Recorder (PSR) or Screenshot • The PSR program can be used to record each step a user takes in order to identify any problems or errors • Start Menu > type "PSR" in search • Click PSR > Start Record • Record the steps of use • Click Stop Record and name the zipped file > Save to your Documents • To take a screen shot • Fn + Shift + F11 • Open Paint or Word to Paste and layer
Connect to Wireless • On the taskbar choose the wireless network icon • Choose the network and connect automatically, then Connect NOTE: this procedure works only if your wireless adapter is enabled. Connect via Ethernet • On the taskbar the following icon will appear
Eject External Hardware & Media • Look for the USB/Green Checkmark icon at the bottom right of the task bar • If the icon is not visible, click the up arrow – Show Hidden Icons in the taskbar at the bottom right • Select "Safely Remove Hardware" and "Eject Media" > Select the device • Two-finger click on Media icon and “Eject Media”
Force Quit from the Task Manager • CTRL + ALT + DELETE or • Two-finger click on “Show hidden icons” • Click “Start Task Manager” • Find the unresponsive application and select "End Task" to Force Quit the program • Close the window
Shut-down & Restart • To Shut down (save work first) • Start Menu -> Shut down • To Restart • Start Menu -> Restart • To Sleep • Start Menu -> Sleep… • Make sure the OS has completely shut down before shutting the lid (black screen) • Pressing the power button should be last resort
Switching from Windows 7 to Mac 10.6 • On Taskbar, click on Show Hidden Icons. • Click on Boot Camp icon (small gray diamond). • Select Restart in Mac OS X. • If Boot Camp icon is not available, then click on Customize. Scroll to Boot Camp Manager. Choose Show icon and notifications. Click OK. Select -> Restart in Mac OS X
