You are going to create and edit a presentation for this company.The medium for delivery will be a multimedia projector. You will need to produce presenter notes and audience notes with the slides.
Set up a new presentation consisting of 3 slides. The slide master must have a very light blue background and your name and today’s date in a small black font placed in the bottom left corner. It must also contain a clipart image of a tree as a logo placed in the top right corner.The logo must be resized so that it will not overlay any text or graphics on any slide.Include the slide number in the bottom right of the footer.
(a) Create a folder for this demonstratione.g. My Documents – ICT – Presentation Authoring Demonstration.(b) Download the files below the link for this demonstration and save them in the folder just created. • Launch Microsoft PowerPoint. • Save it in the folder you created abovee.g. Presentation Authoring Demo
Click the Insert menu and click the New Slide option.Repeat this until you have 3 slides (2 normal + the title slide). • Click the View menu, move to the Master option and click the Slide Master option in the sub-menu.
Click the Format menu and click the Background option. • Click the colour drop down menu, click a very light blue colour and click Apply to All. • Click theedge of text box in the bottom left corner of the slide. • Type your name and a space.
Click the Insert menu and click the Date and Time option. • Make sure the language is English (U.K.) from the drop down menu. • Click OK
Click the Insert menu, move to the Picture option and click the Clip Art option. • Type tree in the Search for box in the Clip Art toolbar which has opened on the right. • Click Go, double click an image.
Resize the image using the resizing handles place it in the top right corner so it does not cover any text. • Click the edge of the text box in the bottom right hand corner of the slide.
Click the Insert menu and click the Slide Number option. • Click Slide Number check box. • Click Apply to All
Click the edge of the text box at the top of the slide. • Click the font colour drop down menu and click dark blue.
Click the centre-aligned icon and choose 48 from the font size drop down menu.
Click the Insert New Title Master icon from the Slide Master View toolbar.
The heading settings made to the master slide should be inherited but if it isn’t set yourself now. • Click the edge of the sub-heading text box and set to dark blue font colour, left aligned and 32 point font size. • Click the Slide Master to return to it.
Click the edge of the bulleted list text box and set to black font colour, left aligned and 18 point font size.
With the edge of the bulleted list text box still selected, click the Format menu and click the Bullets and Numbering option. • Choose a bullet point style and click OK • Click Close Master View in the Slide Master toolbar.
On the first slide:Enter the heading Rootrainer TreesEnter the subheading Growing trees for you, your children, yourgrandchildren … below the heading.Add the following presenter notes to this slide:Introduce yourself and your role within the company.
Click the first slide, type the text as instructed on the previous slide (presenter notes go here).
On the second slide:Enter the heading Plants for all soil types:Enter the following bulleted list on the left side of the slide. • Acid • Alkaline • Neutral
Click slide 2. • Type the text as instructed on the previous slide.
Enter the text and for all environments: below the bulleted list on the left sideof the slide as a subheading.
Press enter to create a new line below the bulleted list and click the bullets icon in the Formatting toolbar to remove the bullet point. • Enter the text and for all environments: as instructed (PowerPoint will probably autocorrect the lower case letter a at the beginning to a capital, go back with the left arrow key and correct this).
Click the first slide. • Select the subheading text and click the Format Painter icon in the Standard toolbar.
Click the second slide. • Select the text and for all environments:Click at the end of this line outside this text to deselect it.The text should now be in the style of a subheading.
Enter the following bulleted list below the subheading on the left side of the slide. • Deciduous • Coniferous • Evergreen
Press enter to create a new line below the text and for allenvironments: click the bullets icon in the Formatting toolbar to start a bulleted list again. • Enter the text the bulleted list as shown (use the Format Painter icon in the Standard toolbar to change the style to the same as the first bulleted list).
Click the Format menu and click the Slide Layout option. • Move down the slide layout panel (on the left) and choose this layout.
Click the Insert Picture icon on the right of the slide, navigate to the image SPECIMEN6.JPG (Students / ICT / IGCSE / PowerPoint Demonstration) and click Insert.
Add a thin, dark blue, vertical line between the bulleted lists and the image.
Click the line tool in the Drawing toolbar at the bottom (if it isn’t click the View menu, move to Toolbars and click Drawing). • Draw a line down the middle of the slide. • Click the line colour pop up menu and click dark blue. (Because you were asked for a thin line then you don’t need to change the thickness. But just so you know you can change the thickness here).
Both bulleted lists should have each bullet set to appear one at a time using thesame animation effect. No other elements of the slide should be animated.
Click the edge of the text box with the bulleted lists. • Click the Slide Show menu and click the Custom Animation option.
Click the Add Effect drop down menu in the Custom Animation panel on the right and choose any effect.
The numbers show that the subheading is part of the animation (4). So click the double headed arrow.
The next slide contains instructions already demonstrated. • Please complete it.
Add the following presenter notes to this slide: We have offices on every continent.
On the third slide:Enter the heading Price calculationEnter the following bulleted list on the left side of the slide: • By formulae • Relative to pot size • Sample prices
The next slide contains instructions that have not been previously demonstrated.
Using a suitable software package, load the file SPECIMEN7.CSVCreate a bar chart from the data using only the names of the trees and their price. Do not include a legend. Add the label Species to the category axis and Price (£) to the value axis. Make sure that all of the tree names are visible.Place this bar chart on the right side of the slide.
Copy the file SPECIMEN7.CSV(Students / ICT / IGCSE / PowerPoint Demonstration) into the folder you are currently working in. • Open this file. • Select the Name and Price columns only (click the column headers and hold down the Ctrl key when clicking the Price column. • Click the Chart Wizard icon in the Standard toolbar.
Click Column in the Chart types section, click the normal first chart sub-type and click Next • Check the chart and click Next
Type as shown and click the Legend tab.(The easiest way to get the pound sign is to launch Microsoft Word, click Insert menu and Symbol option, find £ sign, double click it, close, copy and paste it).
Switch back to the presentation you have been working on by using the taskbar. • Click the Layout menu, click Slide Layout option and click this layout.
Right click the edge of the box on the right of the slide and click Paste.
Resize the graph by using the sizing handles and position by dragging from the middle.
