  1. Minutes software meeting Dec. 4th, 2003 • Presents: F. Marchetto, C. Biino, B. Bloch-Devaux, G. Bocquet, M. Fidecaro, V. Kozhuharov, S. GoyLopez, L. Litov, M. Martini, I. Mikulec, A. Norton • The following items were discussed: • a) Status of the reprocessing; • b) Compact and SC problems; • Kabes interface to Compact; • Monte Carlo: list of things to be implemented (from Dmitri) • A.o.B.

  2. a) Reprocessing status (from Luca F.) The reprocess started on Monday Dec. 1, and so far ~17 K bursts have been done. The speed is limited by the staging and it is roughly 280 burst/hour. There will be the swap of the hepdb from Aix to Sun on Monday 8th at 13:00. This requires the reprocessing to be stopped mainly for precaution. Some runs will have to be reprocessed due to the wrong default magnet current in the Database. b) Compact and SC problems (from Leandar L.) The association track-LKR cluster is missing in goldcmp20, while goldcmp21 seems fine. The Monte Carlo output of compact-6.2 differs from 6.1 (2002 data taking), in particular the momenta for the same MCarlo events are different. This could be a problem related to the corrections which were improperly applied also to Mcarlo events.

  3. (from Brigitte) Neural network package for the Fortran case does not work with the last version of compact. c) Kabes interface to Compact (from Silvia) Quite a progress has been done to make the Kabes reconstruction compatible with compact, which is almost ready. The part concerning the calibration constant determination is not ready yet, and work will continue in the next days.

  4. Monte Carlo: list of things to be implemented (from Dmitri) • Ivan discussed the list of things which should be implemented in the Monte Carlo. The list has been generated by Dmitri • Beam geometry and spectra tuning with Turtle (?); • Bluefield map check (?); • DCH efficiency simulation (D. Guriev); • DCH misalignment simulation (?); • DCH resolution and tails tuning (?); • Trigger simulation tuning (?); • Kabes simulation tuning (?); • LKR resolution scale, tails tuning (?); • OMC (Dmitri) • DCH new readout overlay; • Kabes overlay

  5. RAW and MC merging • It was mentioned that Bernard and Michel are working on the item: Beam geometry and spectra tuning with Turtle. Furthermore Eddy will determine from data the DCH efficiency as a function of the run period. • Silvia will check the Bluefield map. • Help on the subjects marked by (?) is welcome • e) A.o.B. • (from Cristina) A SC test on few thousand bursts will be started as soon as possible to check both the overall sanity and if the old problem of ‘bad files’ did disappear with the new gz library. • (from Flavio) Reading back SC files from Castor it happens with a not negligible frequency that the program stops with segmentation fault. Resubmitting the job it will not occur the same problem. It seems that the above problem affects many people. A possible explanation could be that time to time the network fails.

  6. (from Flavio) There was a discussion on the bad burst determination. It is not clear which is the status with the Hac and the MassBox on the subject. Flavio will gather information and will update next week the status.
