  2. Have you met these students? • “There isn’t anything on my topic.” • “I can’t go to the library because . . . . . . it’s too far away.” . . . the building is big and confusing.” . . . I don’t have time.” • “I did use resources from the library, but all they have is stuff that’s older than I am.” • “But Time, Newsweek, and Wikipedia are reliable sources. All my friends say so.” • “What do you mean by ‘citing my sources’?” Tackle Box of Tips Try using a quiz, story, or other ice-breaker to get your faculty’s attention in a meeting or presentation. It’s effective even if they already know the (unfortunate) answers. Misery does love company.

Seek out other campus structures and initiatives that support collaboration.

It’s helpful to have an objective person who can tell it like it is. It may not always be what you want to hear, but that’s a good thing. Tie your work to your campus’s mission statement or academic standards.

What do faculty see as the issues? Help identify barriers to faculty involvement (not enough time, need ideas they can use in the classroom, etc.) and work together to overcome them.

  12. Look for other opportunities that might support IL integration, such as accreditation reviews • Create a collaborative online space or repository for documentation , sample assignments, and other materials • Consider hosting town hall meetings or open forums on your campus

Investigateallopportunities for faculty collaboration on your campus, such as: • Faculty governance committees • Academic Affairs • Undergraduate Curriculum Advisory Committee • School/department library committees • Community of Practice • Scholarship of Teaching and Learning • Consortium for Learning and Scholarship (teaching, • research, learning)
