    1. LEADER RX Quick and Reliable Dispensing of Medicine for All Your Patients

    2. Who Are We? Leader Physician Services, Inc. is a pharmacy services administration organization. Our goal is to aid in reducing healthcare cost by bringing physician practices, their patients, and our physician dispensing program together. Simply stated, our program reduces healthcare costs while saving patients time and in many cases money. Our physician dispensing program reduces drug costs through controlled drug pricing and expanded utilization of generic drugs. We improve patient compliance through convenient access to medications, and by reducing dispensing errors. Our organization and affiliates work with over 1000 physician practices nationwide.

    3. Patient Benefits Convenience. The convenience of saving time and often money. Formulary issues will be handled quickly and electronically in the physicians office at time of service. Cost. Patients can be confident they are getting the right medicines at a competitive cost. Compliance. Doctors can now feel confident that the patient has the necessary medication and if need, the first dose can be taken in the office.

    4. Physician Benefits Revenue Enhancement. An in-office dispensing system increases practice revenue utilizing your current patient base. In-office dispensing is extremely cost efficient, and requires virtually no additional staff or office disruption. Compliance. According to the New England Journal of Medicine, patient compliance with prescription medications is increased between 48 78%. It creates higher compliance rates, which in turn improves patient health and lowers healthcare cost. It is completely safe and legal. Reduce Pharmacy Calls. Returning pharmacy calls cost physicians an average of $5-7 per call. The practice can spend upward to $50,000/yr addressing pharmacy and patient related issues.

    5. Frequently Asked Questions Q Can a physician legally dispense prescriptions from his office? A Yes, every medical doctor has the right to dispense medication to his own patients. Only four states restrict the practice to any great degree (New York, Montana, Texas and Massachusetts) even in these states, dispensing is allowed but restricted.

    6. FAQ continued Q Does in-office medication dispensing add liability exposure or increase my malpractice liability? A No. Physicians have the right to dispense medications to their patients. Since a physician is responsible for the prescription that is written as well as dispensing samples and administering medications to patients, the act of filling the prescription does not increase liability.

    7. FAQ continued Q Will in-office physician dispensing violate Stark Laws? A No, in-office physician medication dispensing is considered a procedure within the office and therefore does not violate Stark I or II.

    8. FAQ continued Q How many additional staff will I need to hire? A No additional staff are required to initiate the program. As the practice grows and patients become familiar with the in-office dispensing program, additional time may be required to enter information into the system. Nevertheless, time is saved through a reduction in phone calls by pharmacies and patients.

    9. FAQ continued Q Will I need to have special medication storage equipment and cabinets? A No special equipment is required. Drugs may be stored in standard cabinets.

    10. FAQ continued Q How much time is required to process patient prescriptions? A 1 to 2 minutes to process a prescription.
