  2. What causes gynaecologic cancer? The following factors may increase your risk of developing gynaecologic cancer: Human papillomavirus (HPV): Cervical, vaginal and vulvar cancers are often linked to HPV, a common sexually transmitted infection. For this reason, practicing safe sex is a key strategy for prevention.

  3. What are the symptoms of it? Abnormal vaginal bleeding or discharge is common on all gynaecologic cancers except vulvar cancer. Feeling full too quickly or difficulty eating, bloating, and abdominal or back pain are common only for ovarian cancer. Pelvic pain or pressure is common for ovarian and uterine cancers. However, these symptoms of ovarian cancer can develop at any stage of the condition.

  4. What are the early warning signs of uterine cancer? Early warning signs of uterine cancer: Unusual vaginal discharge that does not have signs of blood. Difficult or painful urination. Pain during intercourse. Pain and/or a mass in the pelvic area. Unintentional weight loss.

  5. How are gynaecologic cancers diagnosed? Most cervical cancers are diagnosed through pelvic exams and Pap smears. If cancer is diagnosed, you might have additional tests. Cervical cancer treatment is based on how advanced the disease is, the patient's age and general health, and any desire for child-bearing.

  6. How is gynaecologic cancer treated? Gynaecologic cancer may be treated with surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. If your doctor says that you have a gynaecologic cancer, then she will referred to a gynaecologic oncologist—a doctor who has been trained to treat cancers of a woman's reproductive system. This doctor will work with you to create a treatment plan.
