Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) • they are located in 25 countries.
Pizza Hut • located in 26 countries, with 100 locations in China.

research purpose : to study knowledge, awareness and practice of students to fast food consumption by determining awareness level, knowledge level and diet pattern, we hope it can give all of us alert about this unhealthy fast food trend. People who like to have fast food should reduce the frequency of eating fast food.
1.2 Literature review A fast-food restaurant is characterized as a quick services of franchised restaurant chain, which supplied the food quickly after ordering and minimal service offering for dining and takeout facilities (Elliot and Reed, 1999).
According to the ACNielsen survey, Hong Kong ranks the world’s No. 1 in terms of frequency of fast food restaurant visits followed by Malaysia (59%) and the Philippines (54%).
1.3 Objectives1.3.1 General objective To study the prevalence of fast food consumption (Mc Donald, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Pizza Hut) among 3rd year Biomedical Sciences students in UKM KL for the session 2008/2009 in February 2009.
1.3.2 Specific objectives: to calculate the 3rd year students of biomedical sciences to calculate the 3rd year students of biomedical sciences by race, gender and accomodation (inside KTSN 1 and outside KTSN 1)
to calculate the numbers of 3rd year students in biomedical sciences who consume fast food in the month of February to find out the most favourable type of fast food taken
to find out the most frequent fast food restaurants visited between race as well as gender to compare the students of biomedical sciences that go to fast food by race, gender and accommodation (inside KTSN 1 and outside KTSN 1)
to compare the amount of money spend by the 3rd year Biomedical students in consuming fast food by race, gender and accommodation (inside KTSN 1 and outside KTSN 1)
1.4 Research Question • Is fast food consumption among the 3rd year Biomedical Sciences students in UKM KL for the session 2008/2009 in February 2009 high?
1.5 Hypothesis Fast food consumption is high among the 3rd year Biomedical Sciences students in UKM KL for the session 2008/2009 in February 2009.
2. Method 2.1 Methodology and Tools The tool : closed ended questionnaire with the indirect method
2.2 Research Design Cross sectional study 2.3 Target Population All undergraduates of Biomedical Sciences of UKM KKL session 2008/2009 for the month of February 2009
2.4 Study Population 3rd year undergraduates of Biomedical Sciences of UKM KKL session 2008/2009 2.5 Sampling Method Universal Sampling
2.6 Sample Size 103 students of 3rd year undergraduates of Biomedical Sciences of UKM KKL session 2008/2009
2.7 Research Analysis • To find out the most frequent fast food restaurants visited between race as well as gender • Test that can be used - The one-way Chi-Square Frequency , or also known as Chi-Square test for goodness of fit .
To compare the students of biomedical sciences that go to fast food by race, gender and accommodation (inside KTSN 1 and outside KTSN 1) • Test that can be used - The one-way Chi-Square Frequency
To compare the amount of money spend by the 3rd year Biomedical students in consuming fast food by race, gender and accommodation (inside KTSN 1 and outside KTSN 1) . • Test that can be used - The one-way Independent Analysis of Variance ( ANOVA ).
2.8 Definition of variable Fast Food in this study, includes Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), Pizza Hut and McDonald's
