Here are some tips going forward: • The standards you teach should always guide your quest to improve instruction. • Technology will keep changing, this can drive you crazy! Maintain control over this by picking and choosing the tech tools that work for you. • Use the project you have completed as your capstone. Build on what you know, let the students help you find new tech tools.
How did you continue to use the technology available to you in your classroom? • I use my website! This tool cannot be underestimated. Post notes, documents, projects, and standards. website 7th • I obtained permission from my administrator to have 8th grade students make a gmail account in order to use Google’s rich content. ASK your admin, they will support you!
What was most engaging to your students? • My 8th grade students appreciated the opportunity to create an iGoogle homepage, customized with gadgets of their choosing. Anything Google!!!!! • Create a list of quality links in your subject area. Students will not necessarily engage in content unless you put it before them. Provide the scaffolding. • Students love creating movies! Computer Class
Where did you see increases in student achievement? • Quia allows you to pretest quickly! If your benchmarks can be keyed into this program, use it! CCSD has paid the subscription fee for us. You can use the pre-test results to differentiate and compact parts of the curriculum. • Look for measurable results.
Continuing your professional development: • If you offer to present at GAETC or at the math or science conference go for it! You can attend other sessions. • Your professional group NCTM, NSTA and the GA DOE • When you present you will also have free time to view other presenters. This will help you keep abreast of the technology that can help you in your content area.
Plans to improve…. • I am totally immersed in technology, yet as students become more proficient I expect my job to change . • I am pretty sure nobody in this program is turning back!
