  2. Success What is your definition? Does your definition look something like this- What you will have, what you will be doing, and the kind of person you will be.

  3. Text definition • Success is staying on course to your desired outcomes and experiences, creating wisdom, happiness, and unconditional self-worth.

  4. Do you make wise choices? • P. 4 have 2 students read second and third paragraphs • Who is on course and who is off? • What other choices could these students make?

  5. Journal guidelines • Copy the directions for each step into your journal • Be spontaneous • Be honest • Be creative • Dive Deep • These guidelines are also printed on the inside back cover of the book.

The one that keeps you on course or the one that can lead you off course? • This course focuses on your personal journey to developing empowering beliefs and behaviors that will help you maximize your potential and achieve the outcomes and experiences your desire.

  7. Some student reactions I don’t need this class Just get on with it so I can move on to the next class This is a waste of my time I don’t want to write and focus on myself. I have made it this far, so I know everything I need in order to be successful and happy.

Examples include: Taking responsibility Making effective decisions Setting goals Time management and prioritizing tasks Persevering Having empathy Knowing how to learn Exhibiting self control Believing in one’s own self worth • Knowledge needed to perform a particular job. • Skills you need to master in order to get an interview.

  9. Self Esteem High Self Esteem Low Self Esteem Since I failed this test and I am awful at Math, I should just drop the class and take it again next semester. I will just give up Everyone else has control over my outcomes, and so I may as well just put this behind me and get another teacher next semester. Blame others for their problems and beat themselves up over their weaknesses. • I know I did not do well on this test, but I will just get a tutor, see my instructor after class, and start a study group. • I will persevere • I accept myself the way I am ,with both my strengths and weaknesses, and I will make the necessary changes do • Serenity Prayer-
