Current Activity & Initiatives • Little Gems Nursery - Little Gems, a 37 place community based Private Day nursery, • Raising Education & Aspirations Project (REAP) – a weekend study school aimed at helping to improve GCSE attainment in English, Maths, Science and ICT. The project also aims to raise career aspirations, increase self-efficacy and personal development • Fuel Poverty & Income Maximisation – a project aimed at assisting local community in better using and/or securing better VFM from their energy use/ The project also aims to help increase residents income through maximisation of their eligible benefits. • Youth in Action – this is a project with initiatives linked to the National Citizen Service (NCS) and aims to support 16 and 17 year old youths from Rochdale in personal and social development • Youth Unity Committee - KYP have established a youth group to re-engage and empower young people (aged 11-30) to co-create initiatives that lead to positive development of empathy, resilience and aspirations. • Social & Community Development - KYP continue to empower young people, women and other marginalised groups to support, guide and facilitate in social action. • Roohani Wellbeing – aim is to support mental wellbeing and build confidence through spirituality and meditation People, Potential, Prosperity
Current Activity & Initiatives • Personal Development, Leadership & Solution Focus Training - KYP is in a unique position to deliver a number recognised development and leadership programmes including Solution Focussed Coaching, the Pacific Institutes ‘STEPS’ and ‘PX2’ • Apprenticeships - KYP continues to expand Apprenticeship provision. We currently deliver Apprenticeships in Child Care, Retail, Customer Service and Administration. Plans are in place to start delivery of Apprenticeships in Elderly Care and Hospitality. • Adults Skills - KYP provides programmes for unemployed people to help them improve their skills and obtain employment. Programmes include: Literacy, Numeracy, ESOL, Introductory courses, ITQ and Employability Skills. • Ethnic Minority Women into Employment – a project focussed on increasing economic activity and access to employment amongst BME women • Work Club - KYP is an approved Work Club with the local Job Centre Plus and is working with local community centres in Rochdale to establish a network of Work Clubs to support local residents in their job search and application efforts. • Ethnic Minority Business Support - The Ethnic Minority Business Support provides Information, Advice and Guidance to members of the BME communities in Oldham and Rochdale who wish to start their own businesses and/or grow their existing business. • Grow your Business –this project aims to assist local businesses to grow and create new employment opportunities. The project targets businesses that mainly trade with other businesses and operates across Greater Manchester • Achieve NW Pilot – KYP are a partner in a pilot project across the NW that aims to support ex-offenders over 50 and/or from BME communities into employment. Current Activity & Initiatives • Welfare Rights & Advice - The service provides a fully fledged welfare service in a range of areas including welfare benefits, housing, education, interpretation, translation, employment and basic legal advice. • Apna Ghar Day Care – Our day care service continues to provide a stimulating environment for the elders within the community to come and socialise, engage in activities, learn and develop new interests. • Unique Enterprise Centre – Managed Offices/Conference/Meeting Rooms - High quality, fully serviced office accommodation ranging from small offices of 130 sq ft suitable for one or two persons, up to a large open plan area of around 3500 sq ft. • Unity House – Large or small halls available for hire along with kitchen facilities if required. These rooms are suitable for Workshops, Meetings, Conferences, Community Events, Parties, etc. • Rochdale Diversity Awards - KYP launched the inaugural Rochdale Diversity Awards in 2011 that aim to raise the profile of and promote positively the excellent work being done by individuals and employers within Rochdale in supporting and promoting services for people from minority ethnic communities and emerging new communities. • KYP Heritage, Arts and Media – this is a new initiative aimed enhancing awareness of the culture and heritage our local community and their places of origin • Communities Living Sustainability – the project aims to explore and support initiatives that enable the local communities to live sustainability and reduce the impact on poverty and global warming. • Community First – KYP are a panel partner for the Commu8nity First initiative within the Central ward.
