Symbol • Definition of a symbol: sym·bol (smbl) noun • 1. Something that represents something else by association, resemblance, or convention, especially a material object used to represent something invisible.. • 2. A printed or written sign used to represent an operation, element, quantity, quality, or relation, as in mathematics or music.. • 3. An object or image that an individual unconsciously uses to represent repressed thoughts and feelings.

Project 1 Symbols: Studio Time • Examples from past students(on website) • Finish 5 drawings of symbols that relate to you • Combine all five drawings into one image • Get combined imaged checked off by Mrs. Lyon(you will get final paper from Mrs.Lyon) • Final drawing with color pencils, and pen/pencil • Questions?

Studio! • Pick up a project list at the door • Start picking at least 10 projects that interest you and you think you will want to do this semester • Pick up a new folder • If you have paid your art fee = get your new sketchbook! • Start working on one of the projects, ask Mrs. Lyon if you need anything to start working on the project
AP • Hopefully you brought all your work or have a picture on your phone • Mrs. Lyon will check in with you to figure out how many art pieces you will need to add to your portfolio and what type of portfolio you will be working towards(2D,3D, & drawing) • You will be getting a folder today to keep all your work in • AP will get their sketchbooks – you will have homework this weekend
