School Planning Requirementsfor ALL Tennessee Schools • T.C.A. 49-1-613. Annual school improvement plans. (a) Effective with school year 2007-2008, each school and LEA shall include in their annual school improvement plans specific goals for improvement, including, but not limited to, school performance on value added assessment and other benchmarks for student proficiency, graduation rates, ACT scores where applicable and student attendance. School improvement plans shall also identify areas of strengths and weakness, as well as strategies to improve areas of weakness, how additional funds provided through the basic education program (BEP) as the result of changes made in the BEP formula for school year 2007-2008 will be used to address these areas and how the LEA will measure the improvements supported by these funds.
All Tennessee schools must have a plan under T.C.A. § 49-1-613. All Title I schools must have a plan under ESEA. For the 2017-2018 school year, All schools must enter a school plan in ePlan. School Planning

ePlan Access Roles for the School Plan • USER ROLES MAINTAINED BY THE LEA • School Data Entry A school-level user who can work in the School Plan for his/her own school, click draft started, click draft completed • School Plan Reviewer • A school-level user who will submit the School Plan for his/her own school to the LEA for approval, click School Plan Reviewer Approved, click School Plan Reviewer Not Approved
Accessing the School Plan • Link to ePlanhttps://eplan.tn.gov/ • For best results, use Firefox or Chrome • On the left navigation, click “ePlan Sign-in” and log in. • On the left navigation menu, select “Planning-Planning Tool.”
Accessing the School Plan • Select 2018 in the upper left corner. • From the LEA and School Planning page, click on your school name.
Starting the School Plan • Before you can begin entering your school plan, you must click “Draft Started” from the School Plan Sections Page
School Planning Team • Please identify all planning team members, including team member titles. The school plan must be developed in consultation with teachers, principals, other schoolleaders, paraprofessionals in the school, administrators (including administrators of Title programs), students (if a secondary school), otherappropriateschoolpersonnel, and with parents of students. • Describe how the school actively and consistently involves all stakeholders identified in the development of the school plan and how the plan is regularly monitored and revised based on students' needs.
Needs Assessment: Text Entry Boxes • The enhanced needs assessment screens provide guiding questions to facilitate in the completion of a comprehensive needs assessment allowing the school to summarize their analysis of the data. • Each of the guiding questions provides a text box with functions where the content may be copied and pasted from another document or typed directly into the text box. • The functions available allow text to be formatted to allow bolding, underlining, bullets, etc.

School Climate and Culture • Describe the school's progress and challenges in providing safe, supportive and healthy environments and the steps to be taken to ensure that all students are provided with such a learning environment.
Human Capital • Narrative questions to respond to regarding human capital • Support to new teachers and growth opportunities provided • Retention activities, incentives, growth opportunities to highly effective teachers • Procedures to ensure that low income and minority students are not being taught at a higher rate than other students by ineffective, inexperienced, or out-of-field teachers.
Additional Areas Professional Development: • Discuss the focus of professional development for teachers, paraprofessionals, and other school leaders that will build capacity and positively impact student academic achievement Parent and Family Engagement: • Describe the strategies used to implement effective parent and family engagement activities that are meaningful and aligned with student academic achievement. If applicable, address activities specifically designed to engage the parents and families of English learners.
