About Me • FAS CIO Experience • Advantage/e-Buy Development/Requirements • Categorization and Product Data • Business stats and reporting • Acquisition Management Experience: • Internal systems requirements (eOffer/eMod, 1102 Tracker, eCAT) • Focus on interaction between systems and policy • Cross-platform cooperative projects.
Another Title in the same place • This first bullet is also in the same place as the first bullet on the previous slide. • The second bullet simply follows the first • Notice that the title on this slide is in the same location as the title on the first slide • Consistency is the key • Keep everything aligned from slide to slide and keep type sizes consistent.
Today’s Objectives • Advantage and eBuy Statistics • Products vs. Services vs. Special Programs • Complaints (about us AND about you) • The Advantage Search • New Advantage 12 Features • Going Green • Your Vendor Catalogue • Categorization and UNSPSC • Picking up your Orders with the PO Portal • MarkeTips and other resources (use a URL search).
Products vs. Services • New Advantage has two different searches. • “Products” is default, but searches will prompt for services.
Common Complaints from Customers: • “We can never find what we want” • “better descriptions & accurate pictures” • “minimum required order... Don’t hold the customer hostage to order more than we need.” • “Require vendors to update their information” • “Better photos and… • all items include a photo” • No customer service • Honor prices
The Advantage Search • Powered by Autonomy®. • Relevance Based Scoring Algorithm • Fields have weights, not hierarchies. • Length/Percentage makes a difference. • Exact phrase gets a boost. • Keyword loading is forbidden. • Punctuation is stripped out.
Program Preferences • Global Supply • FSSI BPAs
Why does my competitor ALWAYS come up ahead of me? • The words you are searching for are not present as often in your product (if present at all), but are in your competitors. • Your competitor has products, while you only have a catalogue file. • Your products are not in the category you are limiting your search to. WAAAAAHHH
Using vendor Catalogues • VERY important for services vendors. • Search engine examines the ENTIRE document contents, and display keywords. • .txt, .pdf, .html, .doc • MUST select “services” • To link, or not to link? • From Scan, or from scratch?
How Items are Categorized • United Nations Standard Products & Services Code: www.unspsc.org • Ex. Office Supplies -> Office Machines and their supplies and accessories -> Printer and facsimile and photocopier supplies -> Toner • Your items are categorized by A.I. • Better titles/descriptions ensure your items end up in the proper categories.
The Purchase Order (PO) Portal • www.poportal.gsa.gov • View/Print/Download • Formats: .txt, .xls, .xml • Import status into tool • Master/sub account to control dealers.
Inside the PO Portal • Screens requested from CIO.
Environmental Indicators • Stored at both at the Master Product level as well as the Vendor Item level • If any one vendor sends an environmental icon for a particular product, it will be displayed as a "Green" product in the Consolidated Search View. • Environmental icons will NOT appear alongside the product in the Consolidated Search View A green leaf will appear instead. • All non-environmental icons (eg. Disaster Recovery, Cooperative Purchasing etc ) will appear with the product in the Consolidated Search View. • All icons submitted by the vendor will appear alongside the vendor product in the Expanded Search View.
Embed an Advantage URL • At present, you can copy the URL from an Advantage search. • Do a search using your own contract number, and copy that. • You may now paste that on your own website.
