Performance Track Goal #1:Energy Use Reduction • Goal = 219,250 KwH reduced use • Performance: more than 350,000 KwH reduced (within the first two years) • HVAC Replacement/Maintenance Program • 94 heat pumps, 14 cooler, and a chiller/3 buildings • First year savings = 176, 012 KwH • Second year savings = more than 176, 012 KwH • Energy savings = 65% for some equipment
Green Building • The Green Building Program encourages a whole-systems approach through design and building techniques to minimize environmental impact and reduce the energy consumption of buildings while contributing to the health of its occupants. • In March 2005, Scottsdale became the first city in the nation to adopt a LEEDTM Gold policy.
Performance Track Goal #2:Preservation • Goal = more than 2,500 acres • Performance = 3,439 acres • McDowell-Sonoran Preserve • City’s goal is to preserve 36,400 acres • 1/3 total land mass of Scottsdale • Larger than the City of San Francisco • Acquired to date: 11,363 acres • Sales tax increase passed by the public in 1995 & 2004 for preservation efforts
Performance Track Goal #3:Solid Waste Reduction • Green Waste Diversion Program • Goal: 675 tons diverted • Performance: 6,819 tons diverted • Totals since inception (39.5% diversion rate): • Non Green Waste: 7,790 tons • Green Waste: 9,439 tons • Combined: 17,270 tons • GW reject: 2,660 tons • Clean Waste: 6,819 tons
Performance Track Goal #4:VOC Emissions Reduction • Goal: 3,525 lbs. • Performance: approximately 22,000 lbs. Alternative Fuels • 142 City Fleet Vehicles = increase of 6 vehicles • “First Fuels” Policy
