Develop a Computer Plan Each school plan should address the following: - Access to computer Lab - Managing student login information - Process for student login and logout - Process for monitoring students in lab - Local tech support - Keystone tech support
Access To Computer Lab • Schedule and time per week in lab • Number of assessments and assignments • Do students have written assignments to complete or just tests and quizzes • Use Dynamic Course Scheduler and demo course to plan assessments/assignments per lab session.
Managing Student Login Info Option #1 – Teacher retains all login information and logs each student in. Option #2 – Each students logs in himself/herself
Process for Student Login/out • Make sure browser is entirely closed out from any previous session before logging a student in. • Make sure teacher or student selects “logout” when the session is complete. **If a student does not log out completely, the next student will open the former student’s account unknowingly.
Monitor Students In Lab • Assign seats as opposed to allowing students to choose seating • Monitor screens to ensure that student name on Blackboard matches student at computer. • Circulate throughout the lab • Know what students are supposed to be doing • If students have their own login information, make sure it is not left out for others to see.
Local Tech Support • Know who to call if there are hardware or internet issues • Have a plan if the individual computers or the lab is not available • Plan for additional time in lab if there are technical issues
Keystone Technical Support If Students have trouble logging in: • Ensure caps lock is not on • Verify username and password from master list • Close browser entirely, reopen, and try again • Clear browser cache and try again • Try a different browser/computer if possible • E-mail accounts@keystonehighschool.com with details Other issues with student accounts or online content • E-mail Keystone accounts@keystonehighschool.com with details. Details include: • Student Name/Keystone ID • Complete description of issue with screen shots • Browser used • Solutions you tried
Common Issues and Solutions Login Issues – • Have master login/password list available • Teacher log student in Submission Issues - Size of file – can be reduced by submitting in doc (or docx) or pdf format Type of file – recommended rtf or doc for written assignments
