ExternalAssessment: Paper 1 (25%) Writing paper • SL - 1 hr 15 min (for 250-400 words) • HL - 1 hr 30 min (for 450-600 words) At both levels, one task from a choice of three options with different text types and different themes.
Externalassessment: Paper 2 (50%) Listening & Reading paper • SL - Listening: 45 min + Reading: 1 hr • HL - Listening: 1 hr + Reading: 1hr 3 audio passages and 3 reading texts for both levels, but at HL the listening texts will be longer and the reading texts more challenging. Length according to levels: • SL – Audio 1 = up to 2 min ... Audio 2 = up to 3 min ... Audio 3 = up to 4 min • HL –Audio 1 = up to 3 min ... Audio 2 = up to 4 min ... Audio 3 = up to 5 min
Individual oral asessment (25 %) • HL A conversation with the teacher, based on an extract from one of the literary works studied in class, followed by discussion based on one or more of the themes from thesyllabus. (30 marks) • SL A conversation with the teacher, based on a visual stimulus, followed by discussion based on an additional theme. (30 marks)
Structure of the Individual oral (SL) 12-15 min. • Studentreceives 2 visual stimulirelated to thethemes and choosesone. Can be a photo, a poster, an illustration or an advertisement. • Part 1: Preparation. 15 minutes. Supervised. • Part 2: Presentation. 3 – 4 minutes. Student describes and relates the visual stimulus to one of thethemes. • Part 3: Follow-up discussion. 4 – 5 minutes. Teacherengagesthestudent in deeperdiscussionbyasking open-endedquestions. • Part 4: General discussion. 5 – 6 minutes. Teacher introduces at leastoneadditionaltheme and involvesthestudentintoit (conversation).

Studentchooses 1(max. 300 wordseachextract). • Part 1: Preparation. 20 minutes. Supervised. • Part 2: Presentation. 3 – 4 minutes. Summarizing and describingtheeventsor ideas presentin theextract. Relating and contextualizingit to theliterarywork. • Part 3: Follow-up discussion. 4 – 5 minutes. Teacherengagesthestudent in deeperdiscussionontheextract, expandingon ideas thestudentraised. • Part 4: General discussion. 5 – 6 minutes.
