algia • Arthralgia = pain of the joints • Otalgia = pain of the ears • Myalgia = pain of the muscles. • Neuralgia = pain of the nerves.
Emia blood condition • Leukemia increase in numbers of leukocytes. • Septicemia= blood infection. • Ischemia = blockage of the cornary.
ia condition • Pneumonia – abnormal condition of the lungs. - inflammation of the lungs • Pneumonia normal chest
itis means inflamation - Bronchitis: inflammation of the bronchial tubes. - Esophagitis: inflammation of esophagus. Phlebitis= inflammation of the veins

Procedural Suffixes • -centesis: • Surgical puncture to remove fluid • Thoracentesis: • Surgical puncture of the chest to remove fluid. • Amniocentesis: • Surgical puncture to remove fluid from the amnion (sac surrounding the development fetus)
Arthrocentesis: • Surgical puncture to remove fluid from a joint
-ectomy • Removal, resection, excision • Tonsillectomy • Removal (excision) of a tonsil or TONSILS
