GANTT chart : purpose • A Gantt chart is used to show what needs to be done in a project (tasks) and relate it to a timeline • On the left of the chart is the list of tasks • On the top of the chart is a suitable timeline • Each activity is reflected by a bar. The length of the bar is from the start date of the task till the end date of the task • Your Gantt Chart must show: • All the things that need to be done in your project (tasks) • When the task starts and ends • How long (duration) a task is supposed to last • The start and end date of the whole project
GANTT chart : EXAMPLE • My project (Renovation of House) has 5 tasks • Planning (for me to plan in detail what needs to be done, budget, timeline) • Get legal documents (permit from council to make sure my renovation is approved, drawing from architect, etc) • Finalise contractors (research online to find out who can do the job and sign contract with contractors) • Renovate the house • Check quality of renovation
