Strategies for Deciphering a Text • Use repetition and re-reading • Write out or summarize what does make sense or what you do understand • At first, I had no idea what this was about, but now that I’ve read this several times, I’m starting to see that part of it is about a trip to the beach. • Now that I have the parts that I do understand written down, I can fill in some of the blanks, based on the meaning from the context.
