Part 1: Getting Started Exercise 1: Searching for pictures on Flickr • Type a search term into the search box • Click on “Search” Examples: “Halifax” “flowers” “boats” “cars” “dogs”

Part 2: Uploading Photos Exercise 2: Uploading Photographs to Flickr • Go to www.flickr.com, login and click on “Upload Photos” • Insert the CD into the drive • Click on the first Browse button and find your picture files (navigate to the DVD Drive (D:)) • Click the photo you wish to upload, and click on “Open” • Repeat steps 3 & 4 for all additional photos • Add tags and specify privacy settings • Click on the “Upload” button and wait … • Edit titles, descriptions and tags and click on “Save this Batch” • Click on the “You” tab to see all your photos
Part 2: Uploading Photos Organizing Photographs • From the “Organize” page you can: • Edit titles, tags, descriptions • Change permissions and dates • Create sets
Part 2: Uploading Photos Exercise 3: Organizing Photographs into Sets • Click on the “Organize” tab • Drag photographs into grey area • Click on down arrow beside “Add to Set” • Select “New Set” • Edit title • Click on blue “Save” button • Click on “Your Photostream” (top right) to view your photos and sets
Part 3: Sharing Photos Three Social Networking Tools in Flickr • Your Page and Profile – a way for you to reveal as much, or as little, information about yourself as you like • Contacts – Adding family or friends as contacts will allow them to see your private photographs • Groups – When you join a group you can contribute photographs and communicate with other group members

Part 3: Sharing Photos Exercise 4: Adding a Contact • Click on the Contacts tab • Type Spring Garden into the “find a person” search box and click search • Put the mouse pointer over the picture of the contact you want to add. Click on the down arrow that appears and select Add as a contact from the drop down menu. • Check the box next to Friend and click OK • To see all your contacts, select “Contact List” from the Contact tab menu
