A digital, online time capsule made up of content generated by people around the Commonwealth. It will be presented to Queen Elizabeth II. Contributors will submit content relating to one of the 21,915 days between the Queen’s ascension in 1952 and the Jubilee in 2012. It will be a large and diverse archive about people, places and events. Initially, it will be focused upon a network of schools but will later be open to wider public participation. This is a project that will help to narrow the digital divide and demonstrate the potential of online education tools when used on a safe, global platform. The Capsule… Contributors will be asked to contribute photos and video, or write a story reflecting what happened in their family, community or country on a particular day in the last 60 years. Prizes will be awarded for the best regional entries, the best under 25 entries and in overall categories, before the sealed time capsule is presented to The Queen later in 2012 The material will be safely secured online in the Commonwealth Jubilee Archive, and offline in teaching materials for schools created by the RCS. The capsule will be built in the Capsool.com digital time capsule system. At Capsool.com we are building the world’s time capsule, one person and one story at a time. We focus on the emotional connections between people, reflected in the media we create around our life events. All life is here. And it won’t be forgotten. It is a unique social network that adds in the crucial elements that all the rest have forgotten. Time and emotion.
