  1. Ray of hope in the area of treatment for colour blindness Global Statistics available point that at least 300 million people in the world are colour blind and research also proves that one out of every 12 Indian suffers from colour deficiency. Colour blindness pertains to the disability of the eyes to naturally differentiate between different colours. The retina of the eye has two distinct types of cells – the rods and the cones – that are meant to perform specific functions. The cones are the cells that are associated with interpreting the different colours. Cones are filled with different pigments and the absence of a particular pigment makes it difficult for the person to see certain colours and in case there are no pigments in the cones, the person is completely colour blind. The saddest part of this disease is that there is no known internationally- accepted treatment for colour blindness in the world, even though people who are colour-blind or colour-deficient have no other eyesight-related issues with their eyes. Diagnosis of colour blindness The Ishihara colour vision test helps determine if a person is colour blind or not and also the degree or the type of colour deficiency he has. Enhanced testing is done by doctors to then ascertain the exact state of the deficiency. For this, doctors generally conduct the Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue Test. Reason behind colour blindness This disease is genes related which means that in most cases, the parents pass on the disease to their kids. However, a certain percentage of people also get this disease because of a damage to the eye that could be chemical in nature or due to a damaged optic nerve or issue with the grey cells that process colour- related information in the brain. Often age and cataract related issues also become the cause of colour deficiency. Treatment of colour blindness The world over, there is no known and agreed method of treatment for colour blindness except for wearing lens and glasses that are fitted with filters to help the eyes in differentiating between different colours. Various studies and researches across a global platform have not been able to yield any successful results in the area of productive treatment of colour blindness.Things are however, looking different in India. Finally, there seems to be a ray of hope for all colour-blind people in the country as some eye clinics have reported complete rectification of colour blindness. These clinics and doctors are using the conventional allopathic method of treatment and combining it with alternative and ingenious methods to resolve all types of colour blindness. Equipped with latest infrastructure and professionally qualified and experienced doctors – the crème le crème from the medical fraternity – these techniques have been developed in-house helping hundreds of people see colours better with hundred percent success rate. What is commendable is that these treatment methods revolve around reviving the cones cells in the eyes for proper colour interpretation and comprehension

  2. which in turn helps improve the natural ability of the patient’s eyes to distinguish colours. Kudos to doctors and researchers who have developed such methods with great passion, dedicated focus and committed research over a number of years.
