Treatment for Keratoconus – vision disorder Keratoconus is a vision disorder that involves the round cornea, the abnormal shape of the light is prevented from entering into the eye from being focused correctly on the retina. This can cause distortion of the vision. Keratoconus is a situation wherein, in its early stages it can cause slight blurring of the vision and can also lead to distortion of the vision. This especially happens due to increase in the sensitivity to light and the glare. The symptoms usually can be seen in the early teens and the condition may progress for 10-20 years as the age of the person grows. Different people can be differently affected by the said condition. As this condition progresses over year’s in-patient, the cornea bulges more and the vision may get distorted. There are very rare cases where the cornea can swell and it can cause the sudden decrease in the vision of the person. The swelling in the eye is due to the strain that is exerted due to protruding cone-like shape that can result in the development of tiny crack. The swelling will last for weeks or months as the crack heals. The treatment involves in replacing the scar tissue. The swelling when occurs, the doctors usually prescribe eye drops that to give relief to the person. The keratoconus treatment involves treating eyes but there is no solution that can stop the situation from progressing. Keratoconus is an uncommon condition in which the round cornea becomes the thing and it develops into cone-like bulge. Hence it is also commonly known by the name cone-shaped cornea. It is very important part of the eye from where the light enters through the cornea that refracts and focuses. Through this process, the person is able to see clearly. The keratoconus treatment in India, doctors’ prescription may not stop the progression but may help to correct the vision. Causes of Keratoconus There are no medicines available to treat this condition, the cause of the same is yet not known. According to the research, it states genetics play a role in such conditions and the estimates state that 10 percent of the people get affected with the condition if any of the family members have it. The condition occurs when there is too much rubbing of the eyes; eye injury is caused or wearing hard lenses for the longer period of time. The condition occurs in both the eyes of the patient and the symptoms in each of the eye may or may not be the same. The adolescent symptoms in the eye include blurring of the vision, increased sensitivity towards the light, distortion of the vision, too much of the glare, mild eye irritation, etc. The rate of progression may vary, sometimes the progression may be slow and it may suddenly disappear too. A person should not do LASIK if he has any of such conditions. The topography is done beforehand for ruling out any such conditions. The condition can advance rapidly and can cause sudden swelling of the cornea and it may also develop corneal scarring. The scaring may lead to loss of the smoothness and the clarity of the vision.
The treatment for this condition usually involves oxygenation of the cornea that improves overall health and regulates the activities of enzymes in the eye tissue of the person.
