ALCOHOL & DRUG EVALUATIONMARIETTA Alcohol and Drug Evaluations (also known as clinical evaluations or substanceabuse assessments) are mandated by Judges, Attorneys, or any agency that deems it necessary to evaluate an individual’s addiction to alcohol and/or drugs. Alcohol and Drug Evaluations are required for certain charges such as Public Intoxication, DUI or DWI, Reckless Driving, etc. Alcohol and drug related charges are always referred to evaluators to assess the severity of one’saddiction. Alcohol and Drug Evaluations are done privately in a one on one setting. The evaluation can take up to an hour to discuss someone’s situation. First thing is to complete a questionnaire asking about one’s alcohol and drug history. Then the individual will sit down with an evaluator and be asked a series of questions as part of the assessment. The assessment is based on the Addiction Severity Index Instrument or the Michigan Alcohol Screening Test (MAST) and Drug Abuse Screening Test(DAST). At the end of the Alcohol and Drug Evaluation Marietta, Decatur and Atlanta, the results of the assessment will be shared with the individual, and a recommendation will be prepared by the evaluator. Alcohol and Drug Evaluations are used in court to reduce the length of a court sentence and possibly alleviate it. These evaluations demonstrate to the court one’s willingness to take responsibility for one’sactions.
