That’s the amount of experts you have on any problem you wish to solve’ House Council & Student Voice • House and School Council structure established • Students have had to apply and be interviewed for positions • Objective is to develop and sustain a meaningful student voice which impacts positively on school development and student progress
Extended Learning We also asked Parents to comment on how we could improve extended learning. We had a mixture of responses and ideas. These included: Homework timetable Use of e mail to alert parents to deadlines and missed work Better use Of technology and virtual learning Shorter and more regular tasks Better links with departments to even out the workload Call it homework Shorter lessons with homework time after them
Extended Learning… the next steps • Completing a questionnaire with the CNS staff. • Student voice are being asked to contribute and discuss their experiences with extended learning; what works and does not work for them. • Continue to survey across the year groups so we can map out the experiences of all year groups. • Collating the data and looking at what changes we need to implement and how we track and monitor the use of homework/extended learning.
Parents’ Evening We also asked parents how we can improve the event. We received the following comments: Spread it over several evenings Adhere to appointment times Biscuits and cakes for parents Get the students to make appointments Better appointment system Staff absence from the evening
Parents’ Evening We also received some really positive feedback from the events: • Several comments on the positive relationships with staff and students. • Many felt the evenings had improved significantly over recent years. • Parents liked the seating plan. • Parents liked the new text messaging reminders of events. • Communication between the school was improving. We will endeavour to continue to improve on how we run and organise parent consultation events.
