Chivalry *Everyday for 6 months Gawain fought and over threw any one who would take his challenge. *Arthur rather himself die then any of his noble knights.
Honor *Lancelot goes to Arthur to beg for peace. *Gawain refuses Lancelot’s plea and responds with “…surely our honor demands that we pursue this war to proper conclusion.” *Lancelot must fight Gawain in order to protect his honor *When Lancelot is victorious over Gawain he refuses to kill him saying, “I will never strike a knight who has fallen.” *While Gawain is about to die he writes a letter apologizing to Lancelot.
Loyalty *Lancelot shows his loyalty to Arthur by attempting to end the war between them. *Gawain shows his loyalty to Arthur by seeking revenge against Lancelot because he believes that Lance has betrayed Arthur. *Sir Arthur’s horrible son, Sir Modred, betrays his loyalty by stealing the crown from his father. *All of Arthur’s knights are very loyal to him. They fought and died for him. *Sir Bedivere shows his loyalty for Arthur after his death by dedicating his life to prayers and fasting in his honor.
