  3. Overview: Clearing trees prior to material source development/expansion costs time & money. Partnering with agencies/tribes can save time & money. This option benefits ODOT, the community & the environment.

  4. Option 1: Trees for fish habitat -Contact ODOT forester first! -Contact groups in need of LWD -ODOT Environmental -Tribes -ODFW -USFS -SWCD

  5. -Set up agreement with receiving party -Pros: Whole trees taken care of, benefit to environment, no slash to deal with. -Cons: No revenue from timber harvest, not all trees can be taken.

Option 2: Firewood for the needy -Contact ODOT forester first! -Contact local Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) representative -Volunteer groups/inmates remove trees for firewood and pile brush for burning Pros: Good for building community relations, will take smaller trees Cons: Liability, stumps stay in the ground
