Investigative study focused on: • Online health information and support websites • Worth 40% of overall mark for the coursework element • Handed out date: Week 2- 28 September 2009 • Due in: Week 7 – Friday 5thNovember • Students are expected to carry out an investigative study on online health information / support sites. • Tip: Refer to Week 3 lecture material for a starting point.

  3. Deliverables (1) • review current services supported / provided by different online health sites; • summarise the trend and recent advances of online health support sites. • report on the need and advantages of online health sites • identify the potential problems or issues arising from online health sites. • E.g. self diagnosis. • Inclusion of appropriate diagrams / screenshots • Inclusion of appropriate references

  4. Deliverables (2) • Explore and briefly report upon a disease condition of your choice. (diabetes, stroke, chronic heart disease or chronic pain) • You should demonstrate evidence of attaining information from a variety of sources and include details such as: • disease symptoms, prevalence, treatments and prognosis. • Describe how technology is being used to support these diseases. • Each of you should expect to spend at least 36 hours on this assignment.

  5. Submission Procedure • Reports must be: Uploaded to the online system, CD copy should also be submitted to the school office.
