How Does Polk Use OBIEE • PolkInsight is our Flagship product offered in the US, China and Europe • Allows customers to view, report on and analyze statistics for Vehicle Sales (New and Used) and Vehicles in Operation/PARC) • Customers access fixed format parameterizable reports, build advance reports, perform quick queries and review Analytic Dashboards (OBIEE) • Primary users are Sales/Marketing and Field Personnel at vehicle manufacturers • Field Personnel visit dealers to review performance and develop sales plans • They require simple, mobile access to high level information that can be reviewed with dealer management team
Polk’s Mobile Deployment • Provide customers (outside the Polk enterprise) mobile access to ‘PolkInsight Executive Dashboards’ • Use the SDK to create a branded and pre-configured instance of the Oracle HD Mobile app • Icon, images, naming, colors, server name • Re-use of content created for desktop consumption • Leverage Mobile HD base functions • Local content, favorites, print, saved defaults • Ensure security while minimizing end user complexity (OAM) • Support the model of dashboards developed by Polk employees on-site at customer locations for rapid prototype/deployment • No current demand for special security
The Good • Basic SDK availability, functionality and ability to get the project running • Lots of flexibility for branding and style control • Lots of improvements since the first SDK was released • Flexible licensing model to control costs
The Not So Good • Ability to configure application settings/defaults (server name, etc..) • Hard but we got it done • Limited API support • Limits some areas we’d like to control • Lots of releases • Effort to rework to the newest SDK • TBD • Deployment approach • Can we use the Apple App Store? • 3rd party stores do not align well with our model
