Disciplineevaluations The Academy of Finland conducts, coordinates and commissions evaluations of research with a view to improving both its performance and the quality and impact of Finnish science and research. Climatechange The environment will be left in better condition for future generations. Finland will be developed with the aim of becoming a forerunner in efforts to protect biodiversity and to mitigate climate change. The Government’s goal is to make the future Finland a carbon-neutral society, to propel Finland to a leading position in environmental technology, and to develop the nation into the most environmentally conscious society in the world. Finnish CSR Facts • According to a survey conducted by Corporate Responsibility Network FIBS, vast majority of Finnish companies (71 %, N=201) see responsibility as an essential part of their business -> note worthy that no one sees responsibility as a non vital part of business, and no one states that CSR wasn’t a topical issue at the moment • There is a culture of responsibility: most Finnish large companies have qualitative and/or quantitative CSR goals, they have a code of conduct, and CSR has been assigned as a responsibility for someone in the management group • Environmental issues, fair practices with stakeholders, and employment practices are seen as key issues (local communities, consumer issues, and human rights are emerging trends) • Most companies feel that their CSR work has benefitted the society
