Plate tilted up; padded elbow BAD: Stretched thumb + bent wrist GOOD: Thumb relaxed + straight wrist • Avoid pipettes that put your thumb in awkward positions • Lower or angle your receptacles for easier tip disposal • Raise or angle your plates to see them better and reduce neck bending • Use an electronic pipette to reduce repetitive tasks (e.g. for mixing) • Take 4-5 min. rest break between every 20 min. of manual pipetting • Try to switch frequently between your right and left hands If you have DISCOMFORT, notify your Supervisor & request an Ergo Evaluation For more information, contact the Ergo Team at x5818 or ergo@lbl.gov
