Where It All Began… Drake was born in Toronto, Ontario, the son of Dennis Graham, a drummer who worked with Jerry Lee Lewis; his uncle is musician Teenie Hodges. His father is African American (a native of Memphis, Tennessee) and his mother is a white Jewish Canadian. His parents divorced when he was five, and he was raised by his mother in Toronto’s wealthy Forest Hill neighbourhood. He attended elementary school at Forest Hill Public School, and high school at Forest Hill Collegiate Institute, where he began acting. He also spent many summers with his father in Memphis.
From Acting… Aubrey Drake Graham is a Canadian actor. Drake was first know for his appearance on the television show Degrassi: The Next Generation in 2001. Drake was cast the role of Jimmy Brooks, a student who later on in the show was in a shooting accident and became handicap, on the television show Degrassi: The Next Generation. He appeared in the role on 138 episodes until his character graduated.
…To Rapping In 2006 he dropped his first mixtape, Need For Improvement. A year later his next mixtape, Comeback Season, featuring the single Replacement Girl ft. Trey Songz, was released. From here he began to become more well know and the young rapper was making it Big. He then went on to do big things with Lil Wayne. June 29, 2009 it was confirmed Drake signed a record deal with CashMoney/Universal/Motown, which was considered one of the biggest bidding wars ever.
