The 23rd draw for Canadian immigration through the Express Entry selection system has been performed by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on December 18, 2015. A total of 1,503 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for Canadian permanent residence were issued to candidates with 460 or more Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points. It is unknown whether this latest draw will be the final time that CIC issues ITAs in 2015.
Latest draw continues recent trend of CRS requirement decreasing As the end of 2015 approaches, it is noteworthy that recent Express Entry draws have seen a decrease in the CRS score required by candidates in order to receive an ITA. The last time in which the CRS requirement increased was in October, and each of the last four draws have seen a decrease in the requirement, relative to the previous draw. Moreover, an increasing number of candidates for Canadian immigration are expected to be invited to apply in 2016. During a webinar hosted by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on December 16, 2015, a CIC Policy Analyst made some important announcements regarding the short- and medium-term future of Express Entry: “The number of invitations issued per round is expected to increase as the pre-Express Entry inventory of applications is finalised. In turn, it is expected that the minimum score of those that are invited to apply will drop . . . and we expect that in the new year when our rounds start growing — to meet our new levels plan — that the score will reduce,” she stated.
